Los Angeles, December 6, 2023 – Pex, the trusted global leader in content identification technology and UGC data, has been chosen by the Mechanical Licensing Collective (The MLC) for its Supplemental Matching Network. Pex was the only music recognition technology (MRT) vendor initially selected to provide supplemental data matching services to enhance The MLC’s existing data matching processes.

Pex was selected by The MLC following an assessment that included both qualitative and quantitative evaluations. The services offered by the network will supplement The MLC’s existing internal capabilities, as well as the services already being provided by The MLC’s existing vendors.

“Pex is proud to have been selected to support The MLC in their mission of ensuring rightsholders are paid accurately, which aligns with the Pex vision of attribution for all,” said Rasty Turek, CEO of Pex. “Our industry-leading technology has been at the forefront of copyright content identification for over a decade and we look forward to supporting more rightsholders in their fight to be properly paid for their content.”

“Pex was thrilled to learn that The MLC is looking to add to its already great metadata matching capabilities through MRT,” said Chris McMurtry, VP of Product at Pex. “This is a true testament to the power of Pex’s AI-based content identification technology and to The MLC’s commitment to ensuring creators get paid for their work.”

“We conducted an extensive due diligence process to select the initial set of vendors for our Supplemental Matching Network,” says Andrew Mitchell, Head of Analytics & Automation at The MLC. “These vendors bring complementary technologies and capabilities that can be effectively leveraged to serve our members. This network reflects our ongoing commitment to evolve in innovative ways to best achieve The MLC’s mission.”
